About CMRR:

The Center for MR Research at UIC was initiated as an institution-wide program to focus research efforts towards a center of excellence in imaging with a 10 year horizon. Magnetic resonance research is rapidly expanding, especially in the area of ultra-high field. With State of Illinois support, the Center has built a 9.4 Tesla human scanner, and a new building to house it in close proximity to the current 1.5 and 3.0 Tesla scanners. In addition to the 9.4 Tesla scanner, equipment room, control room and preparation/recovery area, the new building houses faculty offices, electronics laboratory, physiology laboratory, computing facilities, and a conference room. The goals for the program include fostering involvement of all departments in using these state-of-the-art imaging facilities for research generated in each of these disciplines. For more information, please visit the CMRR website at http://chicago.medicine.uic.edu/research/cmrr.

ABOUT CHICAGO BLUES

The following is an excerpt from the Encyclopaedia of Chicago:

“As legendary guitarist Robert Johnson put it, Chicago has been a “sweet home” for the blues. The most recognizable cultural signature this city has produced, Chicago blues has diverse and contradictory roots: African American migration from the South and the growth of the modern music industry; regional folk genius and ethnic entrepreneurial savvy. This rich sense of origin and history makes blues music such a celebrated civic resource, one that still shapes cultural and social practice throughout the Windy City.”

Rosa's Lounge operates in the hallowed tradition of Chicago blues lounges, family owned and operated by an Italian immigrant who came to Chicago in 1978 after meeting Jr. Wells in Milan.

Tony found the true spirit of the blues at South side lounges like the legendary Theresa's, and he opened Rosa's (1984) as a tribute to those cradles of blues tradition, and named it after his mother, Rosa, who had followed him here to help.
