Travel Grants
ISBI 2009 will award a small number of travel awards to provide partial travel support for young investigators (graduate students and post-doctoral fellows) who will be presenting contributed papers at ISBI.
Graduate students or postdoctoral fellows who wish to apply for this award should have their dissertation advisor or mentor email a (plain text) recommendation letter to: isbi09-travel@biomedicalimaging.org.
The letters should include:
- The paper(s) the young investigator will present if awarded the travel support
- The number of years until or since their PhD degree
- The expected costs of the applicant to attend the symposium
ISBI expected to select a small number of young investigators for $500
awards based on this information as well as the reviews of the submitted
papers. Priority will be given to letter that are submitted by April 27,
2009. Decisions will be announced May 1 May 11, 2009.
- Before a researcher can be reimbursed, IEEE must verify that the researcher is not included on the U.S. Government's Excluded Parties List located at http://www.epls.gov/.
- All payments for travel awards covered by this grant must be reimbursement only. All expenses must have an original receipt.
- For the airfare, a US Flag Carrier must be used and the original ticket stub included with the request (e-tickets can obtain a receipt at check-in), otherwise the expense is unallowable and unreimbursable.
- * Expenses for alcoholic beverages and visas are unallowable.
- U.S. IRS W8 or W9 forms will be required for awardees.
