Abstract: In this paper, an effective realization of alpha-rooting image enhancement by 1-D splitting-signals that completely define the image in the paired representation is described. Each splitting-signal carries the spectral information of the image in a defined subset of frequency-points. The image enhancement can thus be reduced to processing separate splitting-signals. By processing one splitting-signal substantial enhancement of the image can be achieved. To fulfill the Fourier transform-based enhancement of the image, the equivalent inverse formula in the spacial domain is derived. This formula allows us to reduce the number of operations of multiplication to O(N), for image (NxN), instead of O(N^2) in the traditional alpha-rooting method.
